If you agree that sick people should not be penalized for using medical marijuana with their doctors' approval, you can help in the following ways:
1. E-mail your state legislators. Our automated system makes it quick and easy send letters to your legislators. You can choose from a pre-written letter or write your own. Since the single biggest reason some legislators cite for opposing medical marijuana is a belief that their constituents oppose it, it's important to dispel this myth.
2 Call your legislators. Because it takes more effort, phone calls can be far more effective than an e-mail. But to be effective be sure to be polite and stick to the narrow topic of allowing medical marijuana for the seriously ill.
3. Help build the coalition for compassion. If you are a medical professional, clergy member, or member of law enforcement, click here to sign our statement of principle in support of safe and legal medical marijuana access. You can also ask your doctor, clergy member, or any groups you are a part of to sign on.
4. Volunteer. Contact the Massachusetts Patient Advocacy Alliance by e-mailing info@MassCompassion.org if you are interested in volunteering in your community to help pass the medical marijuana bill into law.
5. Speak out. If you are a medical marijuana patient or the caregiver or loved one of one, click here to tell us your story.
6. Write a letter to the editor. Letters to the editor are a great way to encourage public discourse on medical marijuana.
