My name is Ken. I am 58 years old and have had multiple sclerosis for about 25 years, which has taken a terrible toll on my overall quality of life and cut short a promising musical career. At first, MS didn't really affect my performance as a drummer. The problem began to manifest itself in my right foot -- my bass drum foot. After many doctor appointments, I was finally diagnosed with MS. Currently, I am prescribed 12 different medications that I have to take every single day. Unfortunately, they don't do much at all for the tremors. Marijuana, on the other hand, has been very effective. Medical marijuana is fast acting, and I typically start to notice my muscle spasms subsiding immediately after administering the first dose. Moreover, when I have trouble sleeping at night -- even after taking my assortment of pills -- a little marijuana helps me get the rest I need. There is simply no reason for Massachusetts to continue denying patients like me the right to use this medicine upon the advice of our physicians.
